You recently did hear about smart contact lenses, now it’s time for the smart shoes.

Yes you heard it right!

Indian startup Ducere Technologies has designed a shoes, sync up with a Smartphone app that uses Google maps and vibrate to tell users when and where to turn to reach their destination. And this will be available in market as Lechal shoes for more than $100 a pair this month. Ducere has partnered with the world-renowned L.V. Prasad Eye Institute to make this a reality.

This whole initiative was taken to help the visually- impaired to navigate their worlds better. The sale of each pair of Lechal footwear will sponsor a pair for someone who is visually-challenged.

“The shoes are a natural extension of the human body,” said Krispian Lawrence, 30, co-founder and CEO of the company. “You will leave your house without your watch or wristband, but you will never leave your house without your shoes. The shoes can be used as a more accurate way to record distance travelled and calories burnt”, he added.

The best for all the shoes\’ high-tech features, is that you no longer lose your phone — if the wearer moves too far from his or her phone, the shoes buzz to warn them. \”If you are forgetful person and the shoes don\’t let you forget your phone,\” he said.

Ducere was started in 2011, by two friends Anirudh and Krispian, Graduates from MIT and the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Today, Ducere and LeChal has been recognized globally as a pioneer and an innovative brand in wearable technology.
