Spansion and Winbond‘s Licensing Agreement

Spansion Inc,  American-based company that designs, develops and manufactures flash memory microcontrollers, mixed-signal and analog products is in a licensing deal with Winbond  Electronics Corporation, one of the biggest suppliers of semiconductor solutions worldwide. This gives both companies access to each other\’s Flash memory patent portfolio.

Ali Pourkeramati, senior vice president of strategic alliances at Spansion, stated \”This agreement reflects the strong IP position of both companies and our ongoing commitment to provide and have access to valuable memory patents in the industry.\”

He also stated, \”We believe the cooperation between Spansion and Winbond will be positive for our customers, enabling them to benefit from innovation and new technologies.\”

Spansion has invested billions of dollars in research and development and holds more than 4,000 Flash memory patents and patent applications. Winbond is the pioneer and leading supplier of SPI NOR Flash.
