Public notice allowing other Patent Offices to receive payments and documents on behalf of PO Chennai, due to Floods.

\"chennaiIt has been brought to the notice of all the applicants/ agents/ stakeholders that due to the floods in Chennai, the functioning of the Indian Patent Office, Chennai has been affected and the CGPDTM has been requested to make alternative arrangements for Payments of fees and submission of applications/documents and other statutory papers which may be required to be filed within the specified time as per the Indian patent Act 1970. It is Necessary so that their priority is not lost in the due course.

In the view of the above, the current Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks Sh. O.P. Gupta hereby authorize Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata Patent Offices to accept the documents and payments on behalf of Chennai Patent Office until 7th December 2015 or till the restoration of normal functioning of Patent office, Chennai.

On a special note, he has directed other Head offices of Patent office Mumbai, Delhi, and Kolkata to operate a separate register to record the receipt of Payments / documents on behalf of Chennai Patent Office and transmit the same to Chennai P.O after the situation is under control.
