A new e-filing payment option has been initiated by The Commerce and Industry Ministry, which will further simplify the procedure to get the patents and Trademarks. This facility enables payment using Internet banking, credit cards or debit cards of more than 70 banks as against Internet banking of 2 banks earlier.
\”Through the launch of new payment gateway, the online filing which has already shown a quick leap from 25 per cent to 75 per cent is expected to increase further,\” it added.
Though there is increase in the number of applications filed, the snag is with the generating the final receipt for the payment. Earlier, the receipt would be generated right away. With the new payment gateway, the applicants have to wait for 2 working days to get a final receipt for the payment. This is because; the IPO office will generate a final note only after the realization of the amount in their account. However, a temporary receipt will be generated for the applications filed. The final receipt can be printed through the portal and can be received over an e-mail as well.
Though, this will not be an issue for individual application filing, but when it comes to multiple applications being filed at a time. Tracking those applications again for the receipt will be an issue.
